Niles-Centerville Little League (NCLL) is an all-volunteer league.  Vital to the operation of our league, volunteers are needed to coach teams, umpire games, prep fields, serve as team parents and scorekeepers, work in the Snack Shack and on special projects with our Auxiliary team, and serve on our Board of Directors. Whether it’s a little or a lot of time that you have to volunteer, every contribution counts and we need your help.

Volunteers also play an essential role in ensuring a safe environment for our Little Leaguers and their families by completing two safety requirements:
1.           A background check
This is a two-step process:
1) Complete the Little League Volunteer application e-mailed to you by our Safety Officer through J.D. Palatine (JDP), a Little League approved online background check provider (Note that links will expire 2 weeks after they are sent) and;
2) Provide a copy of your driver’s license so the information entered on your volunteer application can be verified by our Safety Officer.
2.           Understand and acknowledge your responsibilities as a mandated reporter.
All volunteers of Little League are mandated reporters.  This means that you are required by both federal and state laws to report a reasonable suspicion or disclosure of child abuse, including sexual abuse, within 24 hours to any police department, sheriff’s department, county probation department, or county welfare department in addition to the NCLL President. Failure to report is a crime.  It is essential to understand the responsibilities of a mandated reporter, different types of abuse including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and abuse awareness policies.
It is highly recommended that you take the Abuse Awareness for Adults training, which NCLL board members have taken. It provides an overview of how to recognize misconduct and abuse of all types and how to identify and report incidents. This training is free, takes about 45 minutes to complete, and requires that you register with USA Baseball.

NCLL appreciates your time and commitment to volunteering and creating a safe environment for our players and families. Additional resources and information about safety requirements for volunteers can be found on our Safety Program page on the NCLL website.
